I think Rhaenyra is the rightful heir but Alicent was a way better ruler than both Aegon and Rhaenyra combined. She ruled the kingdom for years when Viserys was bedridden and it was a peaceful time. Alicent and Otto might not have been good people in our eyes (as in the watcher) but they were fit to rule definitely

i lowkey hate how they've made it seem that ormund is responsible for the smallfolk's disdain for rhaenyra — it's like they are just a prop for the writers and not actually people. they ARE what aegon and rhaenyra should be fighting over, because what is the point of siting on a throne with no subjects left to rule? and smallfolk's dislike for rhaenyra/aegon/aemond was a result of THEIR CRUEL ACTIONS, not propaganda. it's like writers insist on them being this blank slate with no memory, opinions and beliefs. i hoped that when manderly mentioned rhaenyra's blockade it'd be expanded upon — but it wasn't so far. and i hoped that smallfolk will revolt in their religious leader being k!lled, but so far? nothing. in the books, they've had their own prejudices, yes, and their beliefs and opinions, and here it's like they are whatever the writers want them to be with no thought behind them — like they aren't supposed to be a real, diverse group of people but a bunch of dolls, who have no thought of their own, but need to have their beliefs installed by one of the highborns :|
