As a Psychiatrist, I completely understand when my patients use these tools to get some information about their symptoms--what it could be, what treatment options are available, or if they should be concerned. Using these sources should come with significant caution, however. Typing into ChatGPT "what do these anxiety symptoms mean?" negates the fact that your experience could be due to SO many different factors that it is impossible for it to give an accurate meaning behind what you feel. Psychiatry, perhaps more than any other specialty, relies on examining the person sitting right in front of you--context and nuance is important. Also remember that if a Psychiatrist gives a recommendation for a treatment that maybe wasn't mentioned in ChatGPT, it does not make it wrong--we make informed, evidence-based decisions based on our medical knowledge as it relates to your complaint, not a paragraph in a message box. #MentalHealth #anxiety #depression #ai #psychiatry
