I had cat post partum the first two days of adopting my kitten tbh. It’s just because you just entered an unfamiliar territory so it’s very natural response and feelings! And then you get used to your new reality and it’s chill

Don't let the rude ass people get to you. You did a very good thing pregnant kitty or not, her children or even her might not have made it had you not picked her up, she was probably scared and in pain looking for help, our cat did the same when she was gonna give birth, she looked around the house for us and would not let us leave her side until she was done giving birth. Kittens are a handful but very easy to get attached to just don't give them names lol, as long as they go to good homes there's nothing wrong about separating them from their mom once they're old enough, that's what would have happened in the streets anyway. GL, kittens grow p fast they'll be proper cats before you know it :)
