@c5news: Several people were injured after two cars collided at a crossroad, sending an SUV flying in New York during a suspected illegal drag race. Shocking footage shows the horrifying moment a man driving a Corvette at high speed collided with a Mercedes-Benz at an Upper Manhattan intersection at around 6:30 am on Thursday. The force of the crash caused the Corvette to strike a 34-year-old pedestrian before smashing into a corner building. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz slammed into a moped and a parked car before flipping onto its side. The Corvette driver, 27-year-old Eric Torres, was carrying a passenger at the time of the wreck. Torres was arrested and faces charges of reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police are actively investigating whether the vehicles were drag racing just moments before the crash. Officials confirmed that the injured victims remain in stable condition in hospital.
