My dad always used to say "If your commanding officer says duck, shut up and duck. Ask questions after you're not dead." He was in the army during Vietnam and was talking about grenades. That advice has benefitted me in more situations than I'd have ever thought.

Nobody asked, but it happened to me once with my dad. My sister, my mom, and I were at some kind of festival or something in a plaza here where I live, and my dad said to my mom and my sister Exactly that, of course, in Spanish because I'm from Venezuela. The point is that my mom just went straight to the car and sat down, and I ate looking at my dad as if to say whose head we need to rip off And I tell you, my dad is quite old, but he's quite big, it's like seeing Kratos but 180 cm tall, and while I'm not very wide, I'm 1.91 m tall, so I am a little scared, yes, thank God. Nothing serious happened, but it's a pretty cool anecdote to tell.

I feel people are doing themselves a disservice if they don't have the conversation beforehand. just say, "hey if in the future i straight up tell you to get in the car its becuz something is about to go down and just listen. no questions" that would save a lot of issues down the line.
