Omg I did this to a man I was training, he kept telling me, yea I know how to do this, so I sent him off… he fucked up the whole thing, manager told him it was all wrong and to listen to me… he had to listen after that. Lol

People think I’m crazy for showing up to work half an hour to 15 minutes before schedule. If I come in early I can relax, go through emails, get my coffee, read up on my appointment and be ready for when they get in.

Nta. When you’re knew it’s unacceptable to make mistakes like that. Easily avoidable and you have to be on time.

New employee thought someone would cover for him and jump in to take care of the customer. Sometimes it’s best to let someone fail so they can learn a lesson.

vadium_from_other_side :
That’s not snitching, that is probation period employee, who can’t follow simple schedule and instead of saying sorry for creating mishaps, bursting out onto person who is training him. Of course OP should not have to train him and officially write down the reason why. That is why probationary period is times better than seventeen-stage interview process

My first proper office job had a rule that lateness to meetings was a disciplinary offence unless you were on a call with a customer and could produce the call logs and incident notes to prove it. I now work in the NHS and people's lazy approach to meeting start times drives me crazy

NTA. Training people comes with the responsibility tell the management if an emloyee on probation is liable for the company and the other workers.

It is what it is :
Definitely NTA. So not only was he disrespecting customers by being late and lying about trying to do better. But when he once again is late and messes up due to it, his reaction is basically “It’s fine. Dock my pay if your mad.” He’s entitled and isn’t taking it seriously. He definitely needs some consequences or this is gonna keep happening.

Cultures have different relationships with time so sometimes it takes an uncomfortable conversation about time expectations and the disrespect involved.

cultural differences about time are fascinating to me. it seems so obvious and universal to everyone that i don’t hear it talked abt a ton, but there definitely can be huge differences place to place. so interesting
