@rjwrites9388: Chapter one Ginny Natnicha had everything people dreamed of. A beautiful penthouse in the heart of the city. A successful career. Expensive clothes hanging untouched in a perfectly organized closet. A luxury car waiting downstairs every morning. A family whose name carried enough power to make doors open before she even knocked. At twenty-nine, Ginny was already one of the youngest partners in a prestigious law firm. From the outside, her life was perfect. But Ginny knew better. Her life was quiet. Too quiet. And honestly? She preferred it that way. Love had never impressed her. She had grown up watching her parents' marriage slowly turn into a business arrangement. They smiled for photographs, attended family events together, and acted like the perfect couple. Behind closed doors, they barely spoke. Ginny had learned one important lesson from them. Love wasn't always beautiful. That morning, while Ginny was preparing her coffee, her phone rang. Mom. "Good morning." "Are you still single?" Ginny closed her eyes. "Good morning to you too, Mom." "I'm serious." "So am I." "You'll be thirty soon." "I know my age." "You need to start thinking about marriage." Ginny took a sip of coffee. "I'm thinking about work." "You always think about work." "Because work doesn't give me headaches." Her mother sighed. "I found someone for you." "No." "You haven't even heard who she is." "I don't need to." "She's beautiful." "Good for her." "She's educated." "Wonderful." "She's from a good family." "Even better." "Then why don't you meet her?" "Because I'm not interested." Then her mother spoke softly. "Sometimes, Ginny, you don't realize how lonely you are until someone comes along." Ginny looked toward the enormous windows of her apartment. She had everything. So why did her mother's words suddenly hurt? "I'm not lonely," Ginny whispered. "I'm just alone." Her mother didn't answer. Instead, she said goodbye and ended the call. "Ridiculous." She grabbed her handbag and left for work. Her assistant, Mina, entered her office carrying a stack of documents. "Your ten o'clock meeting is confirmed." "Good." "And your mother called." Ginny didn't look up. "Of course she did." "Three times." "Three?" Mina nodded. "She also sent something." She placed an envelope on the desk. Ginny opened it. Inside was a photograph of a beautiful woman. Ginny looked at it for two seconds before putting it down. "Absolutely not." Mina smiled. "You didn't even read the information." "I don't need to." "Why are you so against dating?" Ginny returned to her paperwork. "Because relationships are complicated." "Everything is complicated." "Exactly." Mina laughed. "One day you're going to meet someone who changes your mind." Ginny shook her head. "That will never happen." She was completely certain. Until that afternoon. Her grandmother called. And unlike her mother, her grandmother didn't waste time. "Your thirtieth birthday is coming." "I know." "You have until then." "Until then for what?" "To prove you can build a life outside your career." Ginny frowned. "What are you talking about?" "If you remain single, the family trust will be transferred to charity." "You can't be serious." "I am." "You're blackmailing me?" "I'm giving you motivation." Ginny stood from her chair. "You expect me to fall in love because of an inheritance?" "No. I expect you to stop pretending that you don't want anyone." The call ended. Ginny stared at her phone. For the first time in years, she felt completely helpless. She couldn't suddenly fall in love. She couldn't marry a stranger. Then an advertisement appeared on her computer. NEED A GIRLFRIEND FOR AN EVENT? Ginny frowned. She clicked it. FAKE GIRLFRIENDS FOR RENT. She laughed. "This is insane." She closed the website. Then opened it again. Maybe it was ridiculous. Maybe it was desperate. But perhaps it was exactly what she needed. And somehow, the woman who was supposed to be her fake girlfriend would become the first person who ever made Ginny want something real.
