@sdkimwrites: Jennie Kim had always been good at making time for everything. Except herself. Her desk was buried beneath blueprints, reports, and a half-empty cup of coffee she had forgotten about hours ago. The office had already begun to empty, but Jennie barely noticed. Her eyes remained fixed on the numbers glowing from her laptop as she compared them against the plans spread in front of her. She leaned closer, one hand resting against her cheek. One more adjustment. Then she could go home. Probably. “Jennie.” Her fingers continued moving across the keyboard. “Hmm?” Jisoo stood beside her desk, staring at the untouched food container sitting near the edge. “You said you’d eat that.” Jennie finally glanced at it. The food had gone cold. “I will.” “You said that an hour ago.” Jennie looked at the clock. Eight-thirty. She blinked once, then turned back to her laptop as if the time had personally offended her. “I just need to finish this.” Jisoo folded her arms. “You’ve been saying that since seven.” “This one’s important.” “They’re all important.” Jennie smiled without looking up. “Exactly.” Jisoo let out a quiet sigh and pulled the chair beside her closer. Being Jennie’s older sister meant knowing when to argue and when to simply wait her out. She watched as Jennie typed another calculation, frowned at the result, erased it, and started again. “You know,” Jisoo said eventually, “normal people go home after work.” “I am normal.” “You brought your laptop to dinner yesterday.” “I had something to finish.” “You brought it to Christmas.” Jennie’s fingers stopped. She slowly looked at her sister. “That was a deadline.” Jisoo stared at her. Jennie stared back. After a few seconds, Jisoo shook her head, unable to stop the smile from appearing. “Exactly my point.” Jennie laughed softly and finally closed the laptop. For a moment, she simply sat there. The office was almost silent now, the harsh lights reflecting against the windows. Beyond the glass, the city was already glowing beneath the evening sky. Jennie gathered her papers into one neat pile before standing. Jisoo watched her reach for her laptop. “You’re not bringing that.” Jennie paused. Her hand remained on the strap of her bag. “I might need it.” “You won’t.” “But—” “No.” Jisoo gently took the laptop from her hand and placed it back on the desk. Jennie stared at it. Then at her sister. “You’re very controlling.” “And you’re very annoying.” Jennie’s lips curved. “Fair.” They walked out together. Jisoo had always been the person who reminded Jennie that there was a world outside her work. Jennie knew she was right. She just didn’t see the harm in working hard. She loved her career. She loved solving problems, watching designs become real structures, and knowing that something she’d worked on would eventually stand in the city. At twenty-nine, she had a stable career, a comfortable apartment, a sister who worried about her too much, and a future she had already begun planning. Everything was where it was supposed to be. Or so she thought. Later that night, Jennie stood by her apartment window, still in her work clothes, watching the city move beneath her. Her phone buzzed. An email. She glanced at it. Then sighed. Her laptop sat on the table behind her. For several seconds, she tried to ignore it. She lasted exactly eleven seconds. Jennie walked back, opened the laptop, and settled into her chair. Outside, the city continued moving without her. She didn’t know it yet, but the life she thought she had carefully planned was about to change. And tomorrow would not look like today. #jenlisa_story #jenlisa #jennie #lisa
