One of the most confusing parts of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is the relationship between Chronoa, Chloe Aubert, Shizue Izawa, Hinata Sakaguchi, and Rimuru Tempest. Their connection revolves around fate, time travel, and inherited wills.
Shizue Izawa was the original teacher of both Chloe Aubert and Hinata Sakaguchi. Before her death, she entrusted Chloe and the other summoned children to Rimuru Tempest, making Rimuru Chloe's new teacher and guardian. As time passed, Chloe developed deep feelings for Rimuru.
However, Chloe possessed a unique power over time. Across countless alternate timelines, she repeatedly traveled through time in an attempt to prevent tragedies, especially those involving Rimuru. After enduring centuries of loneliness, grief, and repeated failures, the immense emotional burden accumulated within her soul and eventually gave rise to another personality known as Chronoa.
Chronoa is not a different person but another personality born from Chloe herself. She embodies Chloe's memories, pain, rage, and experiences from countless time loops, while Chloe remains the original individual. In essence, they share the same body and soul but represent different aspects of the same existence.
Hinata Sakaguchi, as Shizue's former student, initially opposed Rimuru after being misled about him. Once she learned the truth, she recognized his character and became one of his trusted allies. She also played an important role in the events surrounding Chloe and Chronoa.
Ultimately, Rimuru serves as the central figure connecting all of them. He inherited Shizue's final wish, became Chloe's teacher, earned Hinata's trust, and, most importantly, succeeded in saving both Chloe and Chronoa from the endless cycle of tragedy created by repeated time travel.
