I understand wanting to be loyal friend but there’s a fine line between your friend being “right vs wrong” and your friend being a terrible person. You are at the end of the day, who you surround yourself with. Be loyal to decent human beings.

I hear you but the other side of this is that certain mistakes can show someone’s true character and you don’t have to remain friends with people just because there’s history or a “duty” to be loyal. Sometimes people do horrible things that show their true colors.

Making true friends in your 20s is so tough. Have learned that a small circle of loyal friends is way better than 10-15 fake ones. Especially when you’re in content creation and they weirdly don’t support!

This is so true and NOBODY is saying this right now in our generation! I keep having friends call me and ask if they should “go no contact” or ghost friends and family for the slightest mistake. Like NO you should not end a 10 year friendship because she ate the fries off your plate😆It’s so weird.

you can make mistakes, but if they don’t correct them, it WILL affect you. i see everyone as complex, so it’s not wanting perfection. it’s wanting to be around ppl who are accountable right or wrong bc then you can trust them.

Literally. You have to be able to fight for a relationship to make it work. You don’t have to do it every time, but our relationship with anyone isn’t gonna work if you run the second that you think that they’re not good enough for you. There’s a difference between The person who abandoned their alcoholic friend versus the one who fights for them.

Obviously this conversation about being loyal to ur close friends no matter the mistake can be either a very minor mistake or a very major mistake, yes everyone is human and no one is perfect but mistakes that you have to step back and think if their morals are way different from yours in a major way like politically, don’t u think people can stop being friends with those close friends because morality and integrity matters more than how long u guys were friends especially if those close friends are in a privileged group and u urself is a minority? Idk if it’s different for people who aren’t of colour or aren’t in any sort of marginalized group but things like the slightest way they soft launch their beliefs that directly harms a group of people or even the refusal to acknowledge a countries harm to another country whether it’s war,genocide politics etc because that’s their country makes me and a bunch of poc stop and think if they truly like us and are against racism,war, hate crimes etc or we are just the exception which makes it way worse? Or they just are completely out of reality and think those things are an exception for whatever reason? I unfortunately won’t ever understand this take cause my integrity and morality matters way more than the loyalty of a friend.
