For the people confused, the wind made the line move around his neck. that static line would have chocked the guy out and banged him against the fuselage so the jump master quickly lifted it from his neck right before he jumped out.

You know... it's not like it's drilled repeatedly to hand it off or anything 🙄

that’s why they say maintain eye contact until they completely take the static line

One of the most important things is to keep a straight eye contact with the jump master. he's in charge of everything. make sure when you are handing off your static line. this Jump Master actually takes the static one

i don't get it. normalize context. 90% of the people who se ethis are gonna not know the context. it looks like the yellow line unraveled itself when it pulled him into the floor of the plane. what did the jumpmaster do??

Surely there has to be a safer harnessing mechanism design than that choker?

My grandfather was a jumpmaster. He originally was part of the Triple Nickels and then joined the 82nd's 505 black panthers when it was still segregated, then he was part of the first integrated units of the 82nd when integration started. He still misses jumping, but stresses safety. He is 98 years old and still runs 3 miles a day and drives and is moving and grooving better than most people in their 30s and 40s. But they had less equipment back then. Their helmets were like old football helmets. He says he wants to jump one last time, but that depends on the day. lol. This is him with my daughter, his great granddaughter
