Three months after a total thyroidectomy for papillary thyroid carcinoma with a follicular subtype, I had a central and left-sided lymph node dissection. On ultrasound, a 5.5 mm lymph node appeared on central without a fatty hilum and with a round shape. I am waiting to have radioactive iodine treatment. Will it be treated if it is cancer?

I’m 1 week post total thyroidectomy.. Wish I had of seen your videos before. I had a 2.1 cm nodule fused in my isthmus and touching both lobes. I just went ahead and had it taken out like they recommended.

I’m 21 and about 7 months ago I had open heart surgery and then two weeks later I got into a car accident which is how they found my nodule and a butterfly shape thyroid after ultrasound and blood work I was diagnosed with hashimotos 6 months later my nodule grew so they decided to biopsy. In my case what would you recommend I know hashimoto and thyroid can affect the heart and my Drs aren’t really giving me any answers and I’m just stressed.

Needed to hear this 🥲 I have multi modular thyroid. And two nodules are TR3 smooth, wider than tall, no suspicious characteristics but they are 3cm & 6cm. I just had my FNA biopsy this Wednesday and will go over my results with my PCP next Wednesday. I’ve been told everything looks pretty reassuring but I’m so scared and stressed.

Thanks for this video. I’m 33 and was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. I’ve had 2 surgeries, a lobectomy and a lymph node dissection, with 17 of the 23 lymph nodes coming back cancerous. They’re now labeling it aggressive because there are microscopic cancer cells outside the lymph nodes and are recommending a total thyroidectomy followed by RAI. My remaining thyroid is currently functioning normally, and as a firefighter, I’m really hesitant to have my entire thyroid removed. Do you have any thoughts regarding my situation?

Totally agree with you. Sooo important. Had I slowed down, I wouldn’t have required two surgeries! A Head and Neck Surgeon or an ENT would have done further testing and caught the pesky lymph nodes that were riddled by papillary thyroid cancer. My general surgeon took care of the thyroidectomy and central compartment lymph nodes, but neglected to look at levels 4 and 5 of the neck which contained cancer; resulting in a bilateral modified neck dissection a year after having my first surgery. Definitely, get good advice and a second opinion. Thank you for sharing this important information.
