@fly.goldseal: Airplanes equipped with a retractable landing gear have additional checklist items. As the pilot, you need to make sure the gear is either extended or retracted at the appropriate times. That’s where our gear indicators come in. ⚫️🔴🟢   These are crucial indicators and one of the many important things you want to guarantee are working during your preflight… BEFORE you takeoff. Landing gear lights usually have 3 indications: Off, red, and green. When the lights are “off”, it means your gear is up and locked. “Red” means your gear is in transition. And “green” means your gear is down and locked. There are usually 3 lights indicating the 3 different landing gear legs, and in some cases, there may be an additional light acting as an “in-transit” light or a “disagreement” light.   Another tool found in some retractable gear airplanes is a landing gear horn. When the aircraft is in a typical landing configuration, BUT the gear lever is still in the UP position, the horn will sound indicating the gear is still up. This is to alert pilots on an approach and hopefully avoid a gear-up landing.   Ever heard of a squat switch? That's up next! ✈️ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - #studentpilot #flighttraining #privatepilot #learntofly #landinggear
