I think what trips people up about this conversation is that class struggle is the parent contradiction to the others, racism, sexism, homophobia , transphobia, etc. they cannot be handled sequentially. As to say we can’t tell ourselves “well once the race issue is handled ONLY then can we engage in class struggle”. They must be simultaneous, class struggle involves anti racism, it involves anti sexism, etc. And vice versa, you can’t begin to address racism properly if you don’t tackle the question of class. The civil rights movement, for all intents and purposes, failed to reconcile race in this country specifically because it was not involved in proletarian struggle. Once its leaders began to realize this they were assassinated or jailed.

imo they go hand in hand and neither can truly exist before the other. we cannot abolish race until we reach class consciousness and we cannot reach actionable class consciousness without unlearning the idea of race as we know it now

Although what you said is valid. You’re way too trusting of the average person to unpack systems of oppression by using implications to make a point. In reality, all of what you said that is implied in class consciousness is too rigorous to be stuffed under the umbrella of class consciousness.

I think something that people should be more aware of is that the government is an entity outside of the people. So anyone employed by the government serves the organization’s best interests. That’s why community building is so important. Once we connect with each other, we really can change the world 🩷

Racism is a tool of capital to divide the working class. Abolishing capitalism is the only way to properly address racism. No one is saying personal prejudices would evaporate overnight but there would not longer be a system institutionalizing it or cultivating it.

As an iranian, Ive noticed that a lot of not well read other people of colour, seem to just scream "white leftist" as if whiteness is a moral category and makes their point any less correct. While I do understand that white people can not understand the struggle of people of colour, for their point to be any less correct, yoy would need to actuslly debunk it and not just do moralism

Honestly I feel like many black “radicals” on this app refuse to actually engage with Karl Marx or other European writers because they wrongly think that their analyses are only specific to European factory workers. I blame this refusal/reluctance on many white communists’ refusal to acknowledge the broader implications that race has in society apart from it just being a distraction that stops class struggle.
