My parents didn’t care and I ended up only doing 4 GCSE’s, I put a real effort in with my kids and eldest is predicted 9’s in all subjects. Parents are to blame

Totally agree-there is a difference between being supportive if they genuinely tried their hardest and failed, and being like ‘ah well at least you turned up’ when the kids don’t seem bothered at all!

James :
The reason why they failed is exactly the same as why the parents don't care- the parents cannot be bothered.

It is the attitude more than the failing. Half these videos shouldn't be on the internet. weird thing to share.

it’s genuinely not that big of a deal if you fail your GCSEs you can still do level 2 and resit them you have multiple chances just because u didn’t get it the first time doesn’t mean you won’t get them at all.

My mum was supportive as long as it was above a C. I wasnt naturally academic i had to work hard and still did well. It opens doors people act like they arent important but they are a foundation to build on

Fact is most parents who were not bothered their kids failed is because they were not involved with their kids academics in the first place!!!

I think this just shows you have never had a child that has severe anxiety or other things going on so you can’t imagine a parent being happy that the child just made it into the exam and the results really didn’t matter at all. I’m happy for you that you have never had to go through that with your child because I can promise you it’s hell

i dont understand how those parents are so chill knowing that their child wasn't able to manage the first and foundation challenge of the practical life. how are these children going to earn a living, manage their lives and homes, or manage themselves as adults in day to day lives

My dad died in March and my GCSEs were in the May/June. I still got As and Bs! Because I put the work in still!

That’s actually very narrow minded , my niece failed hers and I told her I was proud of her for sitting them as at one point she wouldn’t have either gone into the room due to MH she even had additional tutoring. And yes with early years you can do your English and maths aside it or resit it in November at college. The same as apprenticeships. Why would you make the child feel even worse.
