As a 29 year old who owns two homes, a brand new mid century modern build in Portland, and a remodeled 1950s home in Austin…You definitely overpaid for labor/materials. All of this could have been done by top tier builders / contractors for 100k or less. Still, it looks great, so as long as you’re happy with it - that’s priceless.

Gutting the bathroom to create a closet is not practical and a terrible financial decision 😭 could have easily added the exact same ikea pax on one wall in the bedroom (maybe adding some sliding doors to the fronts) and kept the bathroom

Since this is such a huge investment into your property, how did you sit down and realistically approach seeing how much you were able to finance and what was realistic for years to come when it came to your payments what you were willing to settle on, that kind of thing?
