You may see little hairs coming in and think, “Great, my hair is growing back.” But the question I want you to ask is: Are those new strands growing back thick and strong — or finer, shorter, and weaker? When the strands gradually become smaller in diameter, we call that miniaturization, and it’s commonly seen with female pattern hair loss. That’s why I don’t just look for growth. I look at the quality of the growth and the diameter of the individual strands using scalp magnification.
