@sarah_sweeten_: as a first time mom I have no idea! also nurses, what should I add to the gifts?! what would you be grateful for/excited about?! 🏥👶🏼🍼 #nurses #obgyn #laboranddelivery #nursingstudent #doctorsoftiktok
It was my nurse, my doctor, and my husband during delivery 💕 but you’ll have a new nurse each shift so it really just depends how long you’re going to be in the hospital

Typically 1 nurse for you during the labor process and then 1-2 will come in right at delivery & then 1 when you’re put up on the postpartum unit!

I’m not a nurse or anything, but I feel like because you’re trying to make a basket for every single person that comes in the room to help you. I think a better idea is to just do one basket with a bunch of stuff in it and when they come in the room, they can pick a couple of things that they would like out of that basket

I worked on a OB and mother baby floor of a teaching hospital. If you are going to a teaching hospital it might be more than the usual 1-2 nurses and doctor. I would plan for 36hrs being there. For those 36 hours you will probably see 2-3 doctors, 3 nurses taking care of you (including when you go to mother baby and our out of OB), 1-2 nurses taking care of baby during the delivery, and a couple for other people you might interact with. I think 10 gifts is a safe number for however long you might be there or a basket full of stuff might be easier for you and your husband for carrying things into the hospital. That being said a gift is never expected and being a part of your birth and bringing a life into the world is a gift itself, but thank you for thinking of the nurses/staff. Love your content. I’m praying for you and your baby for healthy delivery.

When I did clinical rotations for nursing school this past semester a couple moms made baskets for the break room for multiple nurses to enjoy.

I just did one basket full of some goodies!! My nurse brought it out to the floor for everyone to grab what they wanted, but I really only had 1 nurse the whole time in L&D and then 2 in postpartum!

Nicu nurse here! I would do a big basket for night shift and day shift! Most nurses work 12hr shifts, 7a-7p & 7p-7a. You’ll have a labor nurse, then postpartum nurses (depends on how many days you stay) and it’ll depend if your hospital does couplet care (mom and baby both have same nurse). Snacks, drinks, pens, hair clips, eye patches are common things for the baskets! 🥰
