Okay, I watched the YouTube videos. It’s an advanced race that uses a planet and time travel to grow souls to then harvest them for energy. They create human forms that inherit souls from a deposit that they don’t seem to control, then come back when the souls have compounded in life experience which is worth more or “heavier” than new souls. This trial is the result of an attempt to manipulate that system. It was originally taught that if a soul died before being extracted that it returns back to the deposit and is unrecoverable. This was found to be incorrect. They later realized that the deposit was taking those souls and recycling them into new human forms but with all the previously compounded experience from the human life before. This second cycle of the soul continues to compound and makes the harvest weight worth much more. They got greedy and tried doing it for 20 souls recycles. This results in them “landing” in a time of an advanced and hostile society or “crop” of souls. So the feild was wiped clean and “replanted”… sh*t is f*cked up but also an awesome concept for a story!

I’d love to see an entire 3 hr movie made exactly like this where we learn of the individual characters and their work. And the calculations and architecture they made. And the inside of the spacecraft. All with subtitles and this language. Truly great AI.

So, what I understand from this is that they were time-traveling and were supposed to arrive at an earlier, more primitive point in Earth’s history, but they miscalculated and instead encountered an Earth civilization far more advanced than our own, with catastrophic consequences. Did I get that right? Regardless, this is an awesome concept. Kudos to whoever came up with it. It would make for a great movie, and the visuals and language in this AI-generated content are genuinely impressive on their own.
