For the first time in a long time, the New York Mets' brand of horrifying baseball wasn't the scariest thing fans at Citi Field laid their eyes on. A group of people attending a recent ballgame in Flushing were stunned and concerned when the clawed hand of a raccoon was seen reaching through the floor to get something to eat. Video captured by one Mets fan showed the moment that the critter began to snack on the leftover shells of peanuts left at one seat. In the image, the varmint is seen raising his hand through a tiny hole in order to get hold of something to eat. All the while, fans were expressing their shock and disgust at the sight. At one point, out of their pure curiosity, someone offered up a hot dog to the creature in the hole - which was gladly taken. This is not the first time that a raccoon has been spotted in the stands at the ballpark. Conveniently located next to the former site of a scrap yard, Citi Field has been known to have the occasional varmint pop their head up and make an appearance. Last year, during a rain-soaked ballgame in May, a raccoon raced up the steps to avoid the deluge and caused fans to flee. The horror of witnessing a raccoon pales in comparison to the terror of this Mets season. The 'Amazin's' are dead last in the NL East and have one of the worst records in baseball this season, despite having one of the sport's highest payrolls.
