New L&D nurse here 🙋🏻♀️I had a lady who had a very traumatic birth, both mom and baby needed help afterwards and I was frazzled as the primary nurse. An hour after everything settled and everyone was okay, dad looked at me while I was feeding baby and said “wow! It must be nice that you just get to cuddle babies all day!” Sir, were we in the same delivery?!

I'm pretty sure there's a girl on here who's lip permanently has a rough patch because someone kissed her when she was a baby. babies are very weak. do not kiss them.

I had just delivered my daughter - when I delivered the placenta the doctor held it up in the air and asked if we wanted to take it home with us. When he started to stitch me (I had a small tear) I could feel everything, I asked him to stop & he said there was no way I felt anything because “women are usually numb from giving birth”. My husband almost got in his face but one of the nurses suggested he numb the area before he continued.

What is it about people believing C-sections are "not real birth" or "the easy way out"? It's literally major abdominal surgery and every single bit of research that has been don on the subject concludes recovery after C-section is harder and longer for the patient than vaginal delivery. One option is painful and quick to recover from and the other one is less painful but takes longer. Neither is better and neither is easy at all.

My husband said “ I’m going to take baby away from you” 2 weeks after having baby only because I asked if his mom could come around the following week.. she had seen the baby 3 times that week.. spent 2 years depressed and anxious because of those words until I told my mom and she said “ there’s no way we will let him do that to you” that day everything changed

My ex was practically useless in most ways but at least he backed me on boundaries about the kids & was totally patient when it came to the bedroom, no pressure, waited until I told him I was ready, neither was straightforward births so was far longer than 6 weeks

I attempted to kiss my nephew's head and my sister sharply reminded me to not to that since they requested we didn't beforehand. I forgot, but IMMEDIATELY apologized and felt horrible. It's for the child's safety, not our comfort

I was rushed to the hospital 1 week after an emergency c-section. Spent the second week of my babies life in the hospital with pancreatitis and going thru a second surgery. When I finally got out, all I wanted to do was hold my new daughter. My now ex-husband told me I was paying too much attention to her and not enough attention to him. We divorced 3 months later.

My in-laws told me if I divorced my husband they would understand because he left to go off-roading shortly after my water broke. I had to drive myself to the hospital and then he didn’t show up until 15 hours later. He made it 4 hours before my daughter was born and he slept for 3.5 hours of the 4 hours…

I will forever praise my baby’s dad for the fact I could not see her due to not being able to walk and her being in the nicu so I hadn’t really held her yet and his mum was so polite and asked if she could cuddle her which any other time we would’ve said yes but because I hadn’t held her yet her dad told his mum that she should wait till I could hold her and his mum understood and waited forever grateful for both of them being so respectful!
