So true! I grew up around parents who would just stick it out even though they were miserable / things weren’t working out. They were stubborn. They didn’t want to admit a bad decision. They would put on this false positivity thing (“at least we are on vacation!”) and it just really was a struggle bus…. Took into my 40s when I realized, hey, wait. There’s nothing wrong with changing your mind. There’s nothing wrong with admitting things didn’t turn out the way you hoped. And then immediately correcting the situation. You don’t have to keep going down the wrong path. And it was like …poof. A revolution. If this restaurant isn’t my vibe, I can go. I don’t need to stay and order food and make a whole deal of it. If this person is clearly wrong for me, I don’t need to sit here and make small talk, I can politely exit the situation. If this job that I thought was gonna be awesome actually really sucks, it’s OK to be like, let’s keep that resume out there.
