@alejandro_campbell: Lithuania and Latvia share a border… and a very serious argument about cold pink soup. 🇱🇹🇱🇻 Šaltibarščiai or aukstā zupa — who does it better? And what secret did your grandparents put in theirs? I post real stories. Useful lessons. Honest opinions. Follow for more. #fyp #Lithuania #Latvia #latvija #Baltic
How funny. When I was growing up, Lithuania was associated with cepelinai, and Latvia with grey peas and sklandarauši. We all ate cold beet soup without any argument. Since the festival started, the debates began. Who cares anyway? It tastes good, so why couldn't it be our shared Braļukas soup! The best is that what you make at home. Not matter made in LT or LV.

A good product usually doesn't require massive advertising campaigns, and festivals to promote a product.
Let that sink in!

Latvians put choped sausage in their pink soup. I tried it once and it tasted wierd. But we in Lithuania love our brothers latvians despite their soup.

Of course Latvia has its own version too… but pink soup has a pretty deep Lithuanian history. It is documented there as far back as the 1600s, and by the 19th century it was being referred to specifically as a Lithuanian soup!!! There are different versions across the region obviously, but šaltibarščiai is very much a staple of Lithuanian cuisine! It’s kind of like hummus… other countries can absolutely have their own version and it can be part of their cuisine, but that doesn’t change the dish’s historical and cultural identity 😂🇱🇹🩷
