When critics called the remarks antisemitic, she answered with profanity and the word goyim, then pinned a follow-up refusing to apologize. Kasparian, who is of Armenian descent, says her criticism is aimed at Zionism and Israeli policy rather than at Judaism, and has named Jewish American commentators whose work she respects. The Anti-Defamation League and other Jewish organizations rejected that distinction, arguing the language falls under the IHRA definition of antisemitism because it addresses Israelis as a collective and invokes a religious self-description.
