“Sometimes, people become so busy fighting to survive that they forget there are others fighting the same battle beside them. We become exhausted by our own struggles, consumed by our own fears, and focused on protecting what little we have left. And perhaps that is why humanity can slowly disappear—not because people are born without compassion, but because life can make them too tired to care.
But even when the world teaches us to look only after ourselves, I hope we never completely forget what it means to be human. I hope we can still pause for someone who is hurting, offer kindness to someone who has nothing to give us in return, and remember that another person's pain does not become less important simply because we have our own.
We may not be able to save everyone. We may not have enough strength, money, time, or answers to fix every injustice we see. But we can choose not to become indifferent. We can choose compassion, even in small ways. Because humanity is not measured by how much we possess or how powerful we become, but by whether we can still see another person's suffering and care.
If one day survival becomes all that we have left, let us still hold on to our humanity. Because staying alive is not the only thing that makes us human; caring, helping, understanding, and refusing to become numb to the suffering of others are what give meaning to being alive.”
