Here's a spooky and fun recipe for Gory Candy Apples—perfect for your Halloween party! These apples are coated in a blood-red candy shell, giving them a gruesome yet tasty appearance. Gory Candy Apples (Halloween)-COOKING WITH BRIGHT EYES Ingredients: 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or any tart variety) 6 wooden sticks (like popsicle sticks or skewers) 2 cups granulated sugar ½ cup light corn syrup ½ cup water 1 teaspoon red food coloring (gel or liquid) 1 teaspoon black food coloring (optional, for a darker effect) ½ teaspoon vanilla extract Candy thermometer Parchment paper Instructions: Prepare the Apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly to remove any wax. Insert wooden sticks into the center of each apple, pushing them about halfway through the apple. Set the apples aside on parchment paper. Make the Candy Coating: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the saucepan. Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage). This takes about 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on the temperature to avoid burning the sugar. Add the Color: Once the candy mixture reaches 300°F, remove it from heat. Quickly stir in the red food coloring. If you want a darker, more sinister look, add the black food coloring as well. Add the vanilla extract and stir carefully. Dip the Apples: Working quickly, hold each apple by the stick and dip it into the candy mixture, turning to coat the apple evenly. Allow any excess candy to drip off before placing the apple onto the parchment paper to set. Repeat for all the apples. The candy coating will harden as the apples cool, creating a shiny, gory "blood" effect. Optional Decoration: For an extra creepy touch, drizzle additional red or black candy coating on the apples or splatter them with red gel food coloring to mimic blood splatters. Cool and Serve: Let the candy apples sit for about 30 minutes until fully hardened. Once set, they’re ready to terrify (and delight!) your guests. Tips: If you want to make these even gorier, you can drizzle white chocolate on top for a "maggot" look or use candy eyeballs as a creepy garnish! Store the candy apples in a cool, dry place, but be aware that they are best enjoyed the same day to avoid moisture affecting the candy coating. These Gory Candy Apples will be a hit at your Halloween bash—both gruesome and delicious!
Everyone wants a gloss… but do you actually know what it is? *Edit for clarity: when I say semi-permanent, I mean non-permanent color. A gloss is a service, and I use either a semi or demi depending on the hair and desired result. One of my favorite I use in the salon is @Redken Pro Shades Eq ✨ #hairtok #hairgloss #nyhairstylist #haireducation #hairhealth
