@honeyandhymnstudios: “YOU MAKE ME FEEL BAD WHEN WE PLAY.” 😳 She just wanted to play. Her sister said: “I don’t want to play with you. You’re too competitive and you make me feel bad.” OUCH. 😬 Then comes: “It’s fine. Let’s just play.” But… is it actually fine? Because there is a BIG difference between: 🏆 Wanting to win and 😬 Making everybody miserable while you try to win. Kids need to learn that you can be competitive AND still: let someone else enjoy the game, lose without getting angry, win without rubbing it in, and listen when someone says you hurt their feelings. The goal is not to stop caring about winning. The goal is to remember: If nobody wants to play with you anymore, did you really win? 👀 Parents — would you step in, or let them work this one out themselves? One sister wants to play. The other finally says why she does not want to: “You’re too competitive and you make me feel bad.” That creates a great lesson for kids about friendship, competition, empathy, and sportsmanship.
