@goatcult.media: On July 31, 2022, Mackenzie Shirilla was driving in Strongsville, Ohio with her boyfriend, 20-year-old Dominic Russo, and their friend, 19-year-old Davion Flanagan, as passengers. Shortly before 6 a.m., the car reached roughly 100 mph before crashing into a brick building. Dominic and Davion were killed, while Shirilla survived. This bodycam footage captures police informing Dominic’s father that his son had died. What initially looked like a horrific crash eventually became a murder investigation. Prosecutors argued that Shirilla intentionally accelerated toward the building and described the crash as a deliberate act. Surveillance footage showing the car speeding toward the building became a major piece of evidence in the case. Shirilla’s defense argued that prosecutors hadn’t proven she intended to kill anyone. In August 2023, a judge found Shirilla guilty of multiple charges, including four counts of murder. She was later sentenced to 15 years to life, with the sentences for Dominic and Davion ordered to run concurrently. What goes through your mind watching a parent receive news like this?
