@destinydebates: You don't have a RIGHT to privacy in public BUT why does Flock surveillance feel so odd? #flock #survilance #liberal #liberalism #democrat
I feel like not wanting a surveillance state is a reasonable ask, tbh

Why is the party of small government suddenly defending a 24/7 surveillance state?

beyond the third parties who have databases of random people, i also think just social media has changed the game. rather than a handful of strangers on the street being able to perceive you, the entire internet could be staring at you. without your knowledge or consent.

It’s the difference between someone seeing you in public and someone following and tracking everywhere you go in public.

This is a tough one. There’s valid arguments on both sides. You don’t want to be tracked everywhere you go, but you do want a dangerous criminal tracked so police can get to him as quick as possible.

They have a right to track you in public but should need a warrant to search the Metadata.

You all think someone is sitting at a computer and watching you leave your house and where you go in real time. That’s not how flock works.

You need a warrant to surveil a citizen

If we did an open source network of community cameras and tracked police and republican lawmakers showing their patterns and location; they wouldn’t say “we have no right to privacy in public”

It is super weird watching people who claim to be freedom loving absolutists who hate government intervention and insist that the government only ever does bad and we need small government, suddenly be like “yeah of course the government can track you 24/7. Why would they not be able to do that? What are you? A communist?”

Mentos0312 :
That a massive over exaggeration of what flock cameras do though. Seeing picture of a car in major intersections and roads absolutely does not give you enough info to “track them throughout the day”
