@littlemissdiagnosed: If there are any physicians watching this case we all need a wake up call to help women in this most vulnerable time of their life. I learned the consequences of what happens when you get this case wrong 20 years ago and it makes me sad that the system still hasn’t figured out how to protect these women and their families #postpartum #postpartumdepresssion #postpartumpsychosis #lindsayclancy

no one is talking about her real issue. she had akathisia from the meds. all us out here who have had akathisia can absolutely see it, and no one's saying it. cause its easier to blame ppd/ppp than an absolutely horrifying psych med injury.

I’d argue postpartum is 18-24 months.

And the postpartum period is NOT 4-12 weeks like these MALE doctors keep saying. It can be so much longer than that.

Peds NP here! They present to us at their children’s appts. It’s why I do an EPDS for each well child check for the first year of life.

Reddington reading the DSM at trial today sheds light on how totally outdated the criteria (and lack thereof) is!

The prosecutors keep emphasizing that she was on a “low dose.” If a “low dose” of an SSRI results in 48hrs of no sleep, shouldn’t that be even more concerning???

Women should be considered “postpartum” until their kids start sleeping through the night. The sleep deprivation is debilitating and NOTHING starts to improve until you’re sleeping 7-8 hours straight on a regular basis again.

women have been socialized to hide their mental health disorders for centuries. I hope she got the help she needed. ❤️

Not just with PPD. Regular depression can be like that too. I’ve been sitting in the ER with both arms sI!ced open, but I’m dressed with my hair and nails done, maybe even makeup on my face. Depression and psychosis don’t always look like they’re “supposed to look.”

Do you believe that Linsey Clancy’s doctors are responsible for what happened with her? Did they let her down? In my opinion her psychiatrist should go back to school!!

Knew I was in the right place when I followed you. Admitting your mistakes has got to be so hard as a doctor. Thank you for sharing and for helping shine a light on these things.

Is there ever a time when we are going to start looking at our hormones instead of telling women they are anxious, depressed and giving us antidepressants?

Just the sleep deprivation alone makes you feel like you are losing your mind. Then hormones, stress etc. can push you over the edge.

They want to fit the postpartum period into a specific timeframe when the truth is, we don’t know enough about women’s health to be able to do that.

thank you for sharing this. I have been in psychosis much of my life and just diagnosed with schizophrenia at 44. I was always told hallucinations only count if they come from an outside, acoustic source, so I kept it to myself.

After we tell Drs over and over and nobody helps we start to say less. Nobody helped her so the next time she went in she didn’t say all the things. Someone has to advocate for them and if they don’t it can turn bad quickly

I’m a Postpartum Doula and I’m with women in their homes. EVERYONE I work with is going through something. I sit with these women and help them get sleep. We need to make Postpartum Care payable by insurance. Everyone I work with is put together. I have held women in my arms that are out of their minds. I am here for anyone in the comments that needs support

My OB told me I needed an audiobook and a run when I asked for help. I told him about my scary intrusive thoughts, depression, severe anxiety and panic attacks. I told him I didn’t want to be here anymore. I couldn’t take care of myself and I was barely taking care of my baby. I cried all the time and had nightmares about bad things happening to me or my baby. Idk what else LC could have done besides going crazy in one of her appointments.

whats annoying me is they are talking about Linsey not reporting hearing voices…she didn’t live with psychosis for life, she probably had little insight that her experiences were not real voices!

Last year, I was admitted for post partum depression and again for psychosis. It was the worst thing I've ever experienced and I am still terrified that I'm going to lose it again.
