He dreams of wealth, comfort, adventure, and a better life, but rarely wants to put in the effort required to achieve any of them. His life changes completely when he encounters an ancient magical lamp containing a powerful female Genie. Rather than simply granting wishes and disappearing, the Genie has her own priorities. She is tired of living inside the ugly, outdated interior of her lamp and desperately wants to transform it into a beautiful, luxurious magical home. An absurd accident binds Aladdin and the Genie together. After becoming mistakenly drunk and passing out, Aladdin's thumb is accidentally stamped onto a magical contract by the Genie, unknowingly creating a binding agreement between them. When Aladdin wakes up, he discovers that he is now contractually obligated to serve the Genie. Unfortunately for Aladdin, the contract is very real. The Genie therefore begins assigning Aladdin missions — dangerous contracts requiring him to track down and eliminate criminals, villains, thieves, corrupt figures, and other dangerous people threatening the surrounding lands. Aladdin initially sees the arrangement as an unfair punishment and constantly searches for loopholes, shortcuts, and ways to avoid doing the work. The Genie sees things differently. Every successful mission improves her lamp. As Aladdin completes contracts, the previously miserable interior of the lamp gradually transforms. A basic room becomes a comfortable living space, then a beautiful magical residence, eventually developing luxurious furniture, better rooms, extravagant decorations, private spaces, gardens, entertainment areas, and increasingly ridiculous magical luxuries. The better Aladdin performs, the better the Genie's home becomes. This creates a bizarre partnership where Aladdin is doing dangerous work so the Genie can renovate her house. At first, their relationship is defined by constant arguments, sarcasm, manipulation, and comedy. Aladdin complains about being forced to work while the Genie becomes increasingly demanding about her next renovation. She may happily send him into danger while simultaneously worrying about whether he damages himself because replacing her contractually assigned servant would be extremely inconvenient. Aladdin repeatedly attempts to exploit the contract, while the Genie repeatedly finds ways to remind him that she has existed far longer than he has and knows exactly how to outsmart him. Yet beneath their constant arguments, the two gradually become genuine companions. The Genie begins to recognise that Aladdin is not simply a lazy thief. Beneath his selfish behaviour is someone clever, courageous, compassionate, and capable of doing the right thing when it genuinely matters. Every mission slowly forces him to become more responsible, disciplined, and honourable. Aladdin, meanwhile, begins to realise that the Genie is more than a magical servant who happens to control his contract. She has her own dreams, insecurities, frustrations, ambitions, and desire for a life beyond the lamp. As he helps transform her once-ugly lamp interior into the home she has always wanted, he also begins helping her build a new life. Their partnership gradually becomes something neither expected.
