@brianna_towers: My life looked completely different one year ago—and honestly, it has looked different for the past 8 years. I became used to living with constant chronic pain, struggling to eat and drink, endless doctor appointments and surgical consultations, traveling across states searching for answers, and being told that my symptoms were “just IBS” or that this was simply my new normal. I had to cancel plans, miss out on life, and say goodbye to people I once thought would always be part of my journey. There was a point when I truly thought I couldn’t keep living that way. After years of researching, advocating for myself, meeting others with rare vascular compressions, and going through multiple failed surgeries and procedures, I finally found doctors willing to help. One major surgery and an unexpected emergency surgery, changed my life and gave so much of it back to me. I’m still learning how to live this new life, and some days I’m sad about everything I lost along the way. But I believe everything happens for a reason and that things eventually work out. More than anything, I’ve learned to appreciate the little things I once took for granted: going outside, drinking water, eating a meal, leaving my house, and simply having the freedom to live my life. Sometimes you don’t realize how much those things mean until you’ve been in a hospital bed wishing you could do them. I’m grateful for every little thing and for every single day. H.O.P.E. 💜🦋 Hold. On. Pain. Ends. #superiormesentericarterysyndrome #mals #vascularcompression #medianarcuateligamentsyndrome #fyp

Can this develop after IBS?? Or is it completely unrelated?

Also had MALS and I really strive to change how healthcare workers view chronically ill patients as a whole. We don’t deserve all we have had to go through just to be heard, yet alone getting diagnosed. We need more research on these illnesses, and we need to give respect, love, compassion, and support to everyone and their families who live with chronic illnesses. We deserve so much better. 🦋>me eating for the first time without pain since before I can remember. Life does get better.

I am currently labeled under the “just IBS and functional dyspepsia” diagnoses. I refuse to believe that all my pain and severe bloating is just from that. Seeing this makes me wanna keep fighting and digging deeper to get a better diagnosis 🩷

Never heard of these before and I have the same symptoms and no doctors have been able to tell me anything other than “it’s ibs or stress”. I will definitely be researching and asking my doctor about this. Thank you!
