@news.drop.media: A proposed reduction in U.S. auto tariffs from 25% to 15% might sound like progress. But McMaster engineering professor and former Toyota Canada executive Greig Mordue is warning Canadians to look beyond the headline number. Mordue argues that once U.S. content is accounted for, Canadian manufacturers could still face an effective tariff of roughly 7.5% to 8% — enough, in his assessment, to wipe out already-thin manufacturing margins. His bigger warning is what happens next. If producing vehicles in Canada means manufacturers permanently absorb additional tariff costs when selling into their largest market, companies have an obvious incentive over the medium and long term: move more production into the United States. That’s why Mordue warns that if 15% becomes the permanent endpoint, it could represent a potentially devastating turning point for Canadian auto manufacturing. The final agreement is still being negotiated, and the exact treatment of U.S. content could materially change the impact. So don’t judge this deal by saying 15% is better than 25%. Ask the question that matters: Can Canadian factories actually remain competitive under the final tariff structure? Because if the answer is no, Canada’s supposed tariff “win” could come at the cost of Canadian manufacturing jobs. #MarkCarney #AutoIndustry #CanadaUS #CanadianJobs #NewsDrop

I watched a video of a guy who missed a payment on a ford bronco and the car stopped in the middle of the road 😳 So who wants to buy any car where they control what you do and when? China is the future and we should stand together and move on ❤️

For perspective. The countries that made deals with Trump early, like the UK, now have a 10% blanket tariff on almost everything.

This guy forgot to mention that we have a 30% exchange advantage on labour and overhead. So that equates to about 7%-10% advantage based on our cad labour and overhead costs. Now, the other advantages are in purchased components from China, India and other Asian countries with lower landed costs. Another 3/5% advantage. We should be competitive with 15% tariffs

Have you looked at American politics? The left has become socialist 😝 Republicans will hold the Presidency for at least 6 more years. Hoping for a new president isn’t a strategy that works.

This deal is a industry killer. No company can compete with states if they pay tarrif to export to states and usa can export to Canada without tarrif. Bad deal
