@jacobdoesmoney2: Here's what Americans actually have in their 401k at every age, fresh 2026 numbers. These come from Empower's dashboard data, updated June 2026, and one caveat belongs up front: Empower users skew wealthier than the average American. Fidelity's plan data tells the humbler story: their average for ages 30 to 34 is about $51,700, versus Empower's $223,429 for the whole 30s. Same country, very different sample. That's exactly why the video shows medians too: the middle person, not the inflated average. The 60s drop isn't people going broke. At retirement, most people roll their 401k into an IRA, so the money leaves the 401k data without leaving their pocket. And if your number is behind your bracket, the bracket doesn't decide anything. Your contribution rate does. The people at the top of these numbers mostly just started earlier. New here? I run real numbers like these every week. Hit follow.
