Shirilla survived, but Dominic and Davion were killed. This bodycam footage shows officers speaking with Mackenzie’s parents and informing them that their daughter had been involved in the crash and that two people were dead. As investigators looked deeper into what happened, surveillance footage showed Shirilla’s car accelerating to around 100 mph before driving into a brick building without appearing to brake. Prosecutors argued that the crash wasn’t an accident and that Shirilla intentionally drove toward the building. Her defense disputed that interpretation and argued there wasn’t enough evidence to prove she intended to kill Dominic and Davion. In August 2023, a judge found Shirilla guilty of multiple charges, including murder. She was later sentenced to 15 years to life in prison, with the sentences for the deaths of Dominic and Davion running concurrently.
