@worldwidenewz: An Ontario father who fired at armed home intruders after they shot his son will not face a longer sentence after the Court of Appeal upheld his punishment Jason Munroe, of Whitby, was originally given 729 days of house arrest and three years of probation after shooting at the fleeing suspects from his porch following a violent home invasion. The court ruled Munroe was acting in self-defence inside the home, but found him guilty of reckless discharge of a firearm for firing at the suspects as they drove away, as well as obstruction for initially lying to police. Appeal judges called the circumstances "exceptional," noting Munroe had just witnessed his son being shot and had wrestled the handgun away from the intruders. They also cited his remorse, rehabilitation efforts, stable employment, and dedication to his family as significant mitigating factors. The judges said his sentence includes strict conditions, including house arrest and GPS monitoring, and found no reason to increase it. What do you think? #fyp #codecoin #canada #ontario #ontario
