I failed in Algebra. I took night school to catch up. Teachers should fail you if you fail.

Legalize it :

It can be a punishment though. Not cause you’re being told to relearn what you couldn’t learn. But other kids know about it and they tend to bully kids like that sometimes. And if teachers decide to ignore the bullying. Then yea. It’s punishment by the school in a sense.

I willingly took Algebra 1 twice because while I believe I technically passed the concepts didn't stick because the way my first teacher taught it confused me personally

i had a friend who ASKED to be held back a year in elementary school. She understood all the material. She was just hoping a teacher in the next grade would retire so she wouldn't get put in their class. We both got put in that teacher's class the next year and, can confirm her fears, it was awful

oh my gosh this is like the opposite side of the coin of what I dealt with. I tried to get my son held back in second grade for his reading but the school told me that there were studies proving children that got held back were emotionally stunted.

fun fact:my first grade teacher tried to hold me back for being "emotionally immature". I was six. I have ADHD. and am trying to get assesses for autism. like what💔

Sometimes educators and principals can be wrong. like when I was forced to repeat a grade not because I couldn’t keep up, but because of my age ..or my friend wasn’t allowed to skip to senior year because of his age, not because of his ability. But then there are those moments where a parent does not live in reality and the school is trying their hardest.
