Some people choose based on their career opportunities, where their family lives, or where their human rights are protected. Not all states are the same.

I was born in Texas. Been to many states over the years. Nowhere else is like home, so I stay here and have just moved around counties cause they all feel different from one another.

Southern Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee are beautiful and probably the cheapest states to live in. In fall so many of us travel there to look at the most amazing foliage anywhere. There's mountains, caves to experience that will literally take your breath away when looking at the beauty, lakes and wonderful people.

Basically if you’re American you live in the state you’re born in. But when you have to opportunity to leave, check the state taxes and cost of living expenses, ONLY THEN do you look at the fun things to do. The beauty of America is you can visit basically anywhere.

I was born here in Texas. Ive been to a few states and I can't imagine living in any of them long term. I think I would really love Montana tho. Still country enough but plenty cold!

Cost of living, do you like hot or cold, crime, activities, ocean, lakes, skiing, job opportunities. Make a pro- con list and scratch them out as you travel.

Some states have four seasons - and are more affordable- - if you care about bigger sports teams- if you want lakes - if you want more entertainment- maybe just rent for a year and figure out what your best fit

I’m a FL person so I’m biased BUT we all can agree this is a great problem to have . So many beautiful states . Weekend trips is a good solution . You can get anywhere but Alaska or Hawaii in 4-5 hours or less .

Lived in Cincinnati area for 3-4 generations. Look at cost of living. Here in Cincinnati we can be in Chicago in 5 hours, Atlanta in 5 hours, Nashville in 7. We get to a lot of place within a days drive. We also get all the seasons here

What is important to me? Important to my partner, children if I have them... What are our values? Does a new place match at least a couple of those?
I've lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia. I've family in Georgia & Carolina. But we appreciate privacy and time to ourselves. So, I'd start by looking at the physical distance between the most important people in my life, and then situate myself somewhere I don't hate in between them.

North Carolina has the best of both worlds….the mountains and the ocean. I live in Colorado. Studies have named it the #1 most beautiful state. We are also the #1 animal friendly state. We have lived here 40 years. Our children and grandchildren grew up here. We live in a forest with the wildlife. ❤️

I never “chose” any of the states I have lived in. I was born in NM and lived there 32 years. Married and my husbands job transferred us to AZ and later to CO. I have liked all of the states I have lived in but I will live out my life in CO.
