@amyonrelationships: If you’ve experienced betrayal and you’re still dealing with intrusive thoughts, anxiety, triggers, difficulty concentrating, or feeling like you can’t trust yourself anymore, this can be part of betrayal trauma. This is why I recommend EMDR for so many betrayed partners. EMDR can help process the trauma, decrease the intensity of those triggers, and work through beliefs like “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not worthy,” or “I can’t trust myself.” You don’t have to know yet what you’re going to do with your relationship. But I do want you to get good quality help so you can make those decisions from a healthier place. I offer two day EMDR intensives for betrayal trauma. Click the link in my bio to get in touch about an EMDR intensive. #cheating #infidelity #affairrecovery #marriage #relationshipadvice

I’ve been ruminating for 5 months and barely leave the house. Therapy twice a week and you’re the first person to tell me that what I’m dealing with is real.

And once again it’s the betrayed partner who has to pay for what the betrayer did. There aren’t any consequences for the betrayer, and that needs to change! I’ve spent tens of thousands of $$$ dollars, in addition to the psychological trauma. I still have a difficult time freely trusting people.

I love this, BUT i shouldn’t have to pay for it. The betrayer should. Pay for the service. Pay for the time. Pay for the travel. Sadly, even if she did, it would not make me whole again.

Question: even with therapy and management, including improvement in these symptoms, this really is a lifelong experience. In other words, you learn how to manage it but those triggers can happen 10,20 or even 30 years later.

The therapist (marriage counselor) told me that my trauma was my problem and that I had to let it go. Boy, did that validate his cheating for him.

The triggers are real, even a year later of finding out the unthinkable, I get not only PTSD I already had from a really bad injury, but now I got CPTSD, triggers are the hardest thing to get through. 😭 Choosing myself was the best decision I made! ❤️Everything you said here is spot on true, all the feelings. Following you now

This hit me hard. I def do not want to kill myself, but I cannot get over the betrayal even though it’s been over 10 years and we are now divorced. It festers and resurfaces. Certain places particularly trigger it. The inability to trust anyone else is the biggest aspect for me. But I don’t think there’s anything that will fix this. It’s a pretty hopeless feeling.
