However, it is not on our African culture to address elderly people by their first name. In journalism and Mass Communicatipn is ok to call someone by their first name but it still doesn't give you the right in a formal context like that not to address people with respect.

you guys should stop escalating this issue, if you've been in corporate you would know that there is a first name policy especially in banks, so she was only practicing what she was taught, if they don't like it then they should abolish such policy and leave the innocent girl jare.blame the policy makers not the girl.

Nooo let’s leave sentiments out of this, he created a policy and I don’t think he clearly exempted himself from the first name address he created, I wouldn’t dare address him by his name but she is not wrong too as UBA staff are expected to address their co workers and bosses by their first name.
