I had exactly the same 🤣😂 but I found the solution: put your phone on the prayer mat and turn the mat in the right direction.

If your phone case has a MagSafe case I suggest you take it off your phone when checking the compass!! It affects the compass accuracy largely.

There is an app called Miqat which can show you the qibla direction on a flat map of your area. It allows you to see the exact direction relative to your position regardless of any digital compass errors.
