We don’t consider how long it takes to walk anywhere or get in the car. 20minutes drive time and maybe 10 for the store sounds right to me.

It’s tv time that we base time on. I have watched a guy on a tv show hold his breath underwater for 30 minutes. Not only that, but the bomb needing defusing in 7 minutes is still ticking away at 20 minutes. So it’s no wonder he can do all those things, in his mind.

is he not counting the driveline between places? could be doing the math of 5 minutes to drop something off, 5 mins at the store and 20 minutes home not counting the 30 mins of driving

The way it happens to me is like this: I need to get ready to leave the house and tell myself “it’ll take about x minutes to get ready and leave the house”. I get ready and, despite me checking the clock multiple times, it feels like I black out and lose time, or the clock is faster than normal. Somehow five or ten minutes will go by that truly feels like one minute. and because I can’t get a good grasp and on what an hour (for example) feels like when I’m getting ready, I can’t remember it for next time. I try and mitigate it by waking up super super early for things that matter like work or doctors appointments, but I’m either waiting a ridiculous amount of time because I’m super early

Yeah, my ADHD time blindness goes the other direction. I tend to think that it’s taking me way longer to do a thing than it actually is so I always give myself huge windows of time to do things in and overestimate how long it’s going to take me to do things

this is me when I don't remember that time is a thing that I need to compute. This is me when I underestimate how long things take to do because I don't even estimate it. I don't do this all the time because I consciously try my best to compute time because of the shame I feel when everything goes wrong because of me.
