@pennytherescuefox: Sometimes training isn’t about asking your dog to do better, it’s about asking what we can do differently. 🐾 For a while, Penny was pulling back on the leash constantly. Trucks, garbage, loud noises, scooters… you name it. And because we live in NYC, avoiding triggers completely isn’t exactly an option. We started realizing that some of our usual walking routes were just putting her on edge before we even had a chance to work on anything. So Cam had the idea to change things up. We started taking different streets, choosing quieter routes when we could, and giving her more opportunities to have walks where she could just… be a dog. And it’s made such a difference. 🤍 Routine is SO important for dogs, but I think there’s a difference between giving your dog consistency and getting stuck in a routine that clearly isn’t working. Sometimes the best thing you can do is change the plan. If your dog is struggling on walks, maybe it’s worth asking: “Is there something about our routine that I could change to make this easier for them?”
