Kao snapped her gaze back to Janeyeh, her cheeks flushing with faint anger.
Kao snapped her gaze back to Janeyeh, her cheeks flushing with faint anger. "Watch your mouth, Khun Janeyeh. You don't know anything about my professionalism." "I know you're staring at me like you want to bite my head off," Janeyeh murmured softly, her lips curving into a sweet, maddening smile. "And yet, you haven't walked out." "Because I am proving a point," Kao retorted sharply. Janeyeh rested her elbows on the table, leaning in slightly closer. "Then prove another point to me." "What?" Kao asked defensively, her guard immediately rising. "Give me your private number, Ms. CEO." "No," Kao snapped without hesitation. Janeyeh didn't look bothered at all. She merely raised an eyebrow, a quiet, dangerous spark of mischief in her eyes. "So you want me to get it from Namtan?" Kao’s breath caught in her throat, her sharp glare intensifying as she realized Janeyeh had her completely cornered. Before Kao could fire off a response, the waiter returned, placing their black coffees and salads on the table with a timid, hurried smile before bowing and quickly exiting the private room. The arrival of the food broke the immediate standoff, but the tension between them remained electric. Kao picked up her coffee cup, taking a slow sip without taking her eyes off Janeyeh. "Why are you insisting on seeing me?" Kao asked directly, her tone demanding and sharp. "You're a famous model, Khun Janeyeh. You have half of Bangkok trying to get your attention. So why bother pulling cheap tricks with Namtan just to sit across from me?" Janeyeh picked up her fork, entirely unfazed by Kao's interrogation. "I didn't pull any tricks," she replied smoothly, though her eyes held a soft, teasing gleam. "Is it so wrong to meet you accidentally?" "Accidentally?" Kao let out a cold, incredulous laugh. "Namtan conveniently leaving the moment you arrived isn't an accident. You planned this." "Even if I did," Janeyeh murmured, looking up with a soft, unnerving calm, "is it such a crime to want to talk to the woman who stared at me backstage like she wanted to tear my dress apart?" Kao almost choked on her coffee. "I was inspecting our firm's investment, not you." "Your firm invested in the clothes, Kao. Not the woman walking in them," Janeyeh countered softly. "Yet you didn't look at the silk once. You looked at me." "You are unbearably full of yourself," Kao growled, her cheeks warming despite her best efforts to stay stone-cold. "And you are noticeably bad at lying when you're flustered," Janeyeh pointed out, taking a delicate bite of her salad. Kao pushed her chair back, the harsh scraping sound echoing off the private room's walls. She grabbed her handbag, standing up to her full height and looking down at Janeyeh with pure, fiery arrogance. "Enjoy your lunch, Khun Janeyeh," Kao said, her voice laced with sharp pride. "Because this is the last time you'll ever get to sit at a table with me." Kao turned on her heel, taking a fast step toward the exit. Before she could take another step, a pair of warm, slender fingers wrapped firmly around Kao’s wrist, halting her in her tracks. Kao froze, her breath catching as the heat of Janeyeh’s touch seeped straight through her skin. She looked down at her caught arm, then up into Janeyeh’s dark, unwavering eyes. Janeyeh didn't pull her back, nor did she let her go. She just held her wrist gently, standing up slowly until they were mere inches apart. "Don't make promises you know you can't keep, Kao," Janeyeh whispered softly, her thumb making a small, gentle circle against Kao's racing pulse. "I'll see you again soon." #aurecommendation #austory #janeeyeh #supassra_sp #kaojanejanekao
