@meghannmcuniff: A psychiatrist testified today that Lindsay Clancy was depressed but not psychotic when she killed her three young children in January 2023 after seeking treatment for postpartum problems. Prosecutors called Avram Mack as a rebuttal witness after Clancy's lawyer rested his case this morning (Friday, August 21, day 18). Mack works at Nemours Children's Health in Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He reviewed Clancy's medical records and criminal case at the request of prosecutors, who are seeking three murder convictions against her. Clancy's defense is that she is not guilty by reason of insanity because she was experiencing postpartum psychosis and didn't know what she was doing. Mack said he saw no indication of mania or psychosis and believes Clancy was severely depressed. "My opinion about her diagnosis in the span from 2022 to 2023 is that she suffered from what's called a major depressive episode," Mack testified. "What made you come to that conclusion based on her presentations?" asked Shanan Buckingham, an assistant district attorney in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. "The information about her feelings and the progression of her illness highlighted that it was best represented by a major depressive episode," Mack answered. The condition is defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder as "where an individual displays problems with mood, problems with feeling pleasure, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, problems with appetite, problems with sleep, preoccupation with death or suicide, poor concentration, poor energy, perhaps also what's called psychomotor agitation or retardation." Clancy's description of her experience "matched a major depressive episode," Mack said. "In the time closest to January 24 of 2023, did you take a look at what her presentation or what her mental state was then, based on all the information that you had available to you?" Buckingham asked. "Yes, I did," Mack said. "Did you identify whether she was ever presenting in a manic state or a hypomanic state?" Buckingham asked. "Throughout the period from 2022 to 2023? No, there was never indication of any element of mania or hypomania," Mack said. #law #crime #court

Major depressive here. He’s right and I’ve heard voices. Coupled with OCD and anxiety you sometimes have homicidal thoughts. But she actually did it

I have MDD, anxiety, OCD and severe insomnia. I have had a near identical treatment plan when mine started over 12 years ago. I have been on the same meds. I am currently on 4 meds that keep me stable (I’ve tried to taper off some but become unstable). It took a lot of time to find the right combination but I stuck with my plan. She did not stick with her plan. I still have major struggles with insomnia and that will never go away based on my personality type but I can manage it.

Treating mental illness takes time (just like any illness). All Lindsey had to was not hurt anyone, take medication as prescribed and be honest to her providers. She failed at all that!!!!! She is a murderer. Guilty 1,000%!

Well it was well documented that she was having symptoms of mania as well. A huge clue in discovering a bipolar diagnosis is when they take an SSRI and experience activation. She also didn’t sleep for 48 hours straight while feeling wired during the day. At the same time she went on cleaning sprees, ridding their home of items for no reason, back to back google searches on her phone about anything and everything, she wrote she felt guilty about spending the family’s money… so must have been making large or many purchases. Then settled into a major depressive episode which lead to the prodromal period of psychosis (which looks a lot like depression, being antisocial, zombie like state, etc) before the outward peak psychotic symptoms appear. All the experts with huge credibility said this. This dude has zero credibility and embarrassed himself with how little he knew

He was like having an endodontist testify on a maxillofacial case. An English rider testify as an expert to a western riding case. A trombone player testify as an expert in a guitar case.i could go on.
