It’s so true. I feel like so many people just want a quick fix in parenting (spanking). Real parenting and real discipline takes time, effort, self regulation, and patience. It’s hard work! But having a kid whos happy, regulated, and trusts you is SO WORTH IT.

I just don't like the phrase because everyone misinterprets it. I use "respectful parenting" because I respect the fact that they are independent humans with their own wants, needs, feelings, and thoughts. But there are still boundaries, accountability, responsibility, and correlated consequences in this type of parenting.

My husband says I'm mean because I hold boundaries. I'm like one slip up is all it takes and I'm not here raising a child that is an asshole and can't take no for an answer
