⚠️ Scanned on the Exposr app⚠️ Taco Bell's Beef Taco Supreme tested positive for the highest concentration of monensin — a veterinary antibiotic — of any fast food sample tested by Moms Across America. Monensin is not approved for human consumption by the FDA. It's used to increase milk production in dairy cows and prevent parasitic infections in cattle. In humans, it can cause rhabdomyolysis — a breakdown of muscle tissue that damages the heart and kidneys. The Health Research Institute in Iowa conducted the testing. 6 out of 10 major fast food chains tested positive for veterinary antibiotics. Only two came back clean: Chipotle and Subway. Taco Bell had the highest monensin levels. Their beef already received a D-grade for antibiotic transparency. They were already sued for not containing enough beef to legally call it beef. Their "seasoned beef" contains roughly 40 ingredients — including cocoa powder to darken the colour and torula yeast to replace MSG. The lead scientist at the Health Research Institute warned: "The FDA's acceptable intake levels focus on acute poisoning. But when people eat fast food daily, there's a concern about chronic poisoning due to accumulation." 85 million Americans eat fast food every day. Taco Bell just tested the highest for a veterinary antibiotic not approved for humans. Scanned on the Exposr app
