I was a kid when he died and thought he was just a nice old grandpa. but after leaving i realized none of the prophets could be good people. so not surprised to hear that he blocked gay marriage.

I thought it was Prop8….no matter. One of the biggest reasons the church worked so hard to oppose this was also so they would t have to allow gays to marry in the temple. It was a whole thing.

Ran into him in person (elevator doors opened and there he was!) about 18 years ago. I was so excited because I thought he was the sweetest. Well. HE WAS AS COLD AS ICE. Shocked me immensely at the time - went on my shelf!

I lived in CA at the time. We were offered lawn signs for prop 22 that we could pick up FROM THE CHURCH BUILDING. No thank you! My mother in law went door to door and justifiably got yelled at by her neighbors.

I recently learned something so interesting about tithing. There are some states/areas that the bishop gets a financial kickback if his ward brings in a certain amount of tithing. More and more that comes out about what they do with tithing money is absolutely appalling and it’s sad that I’m not surprised anymore. 🤦♀️

fun fact I spent my 8th birthday watching Gordon B Hinkleys funeral and was baptized the next day. I had no idea what I was doing. so glad I've left now.
