Texas has given data centers substantial tax breaks, and Greg Abbott has supported that pro-data-center policy. The cost of the exemption will cost us approximately $3.3 billion in lost state tax revenue over the upcoming 2028–29 budget cycle. The only reason he is saying anything right now is because he’s concerned Gina Hinajosa is going to beat him.
