There are two types of Rolex owners: those that appreciate the actual timepieces for what they are in terms of horology and those that simply wish to use it as a status symbol. Both co-exist and drive the Rolex brands enduring popularity and success.

The customer who actually uses a Rolex underwater is the enemy, but hey, the fakes are really good even Rolex struggle to spot them.

My daughter is a real submariner in the RN. She tells me most wear fitness/Garmin style watches but the more senior rates and officers wear Seamasters and Submariners. Youngsters! They have no clue. 😂

the only time a Rolex should ever be bought is when you pass selection and the other guys in the squad are doing it because its a tradition. Get a Patek or Breitling or something.

I don’t think I ever met a senior rate in a sub who owned a Rolex either, maybe later in life perhaps.

I wouldn’t buy this watch to pretend I’m a diver. It’s just a nice watch. Rolex have sold far more of them to the Connors of this world than the Mikes, if they were only relying on the Mikes they’d have stopped making them decades ago.
